this is called an imperforate hymen, it’s kind of a defect because the hymen starts off whole during fetal development and is meant to develop an opening. It’s a problem even without sex because of menstruation and discharge in general. People with this have to get a doctor to open it for them.
Also sometimes hymens have multiple small openings (again, can be dealt with by a doctor), or one big opening and one small one or something. Which, by the way, can stretch or tear from vigorous exercise. Hymens are just really really misunderstood beings.
